Lezyne Super Drive XL front light

The Super Drive XL is the top of the line lights offered by Lezyne and I use it as basic lighting for commutes of over an hour and for night runs. It proved easy to use and reliable, with plenty of useful light and well-designed modes.

Description

Light patterns and light beam. The Super Drive has three different fixed modes ranging from Overdrive at 575 lumens (runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes) to Economy at 175 lumens (and a runtime of 5 hours and 45 minutes). The declared operating times are more or less correct. There is also a flash mode that runs for 12 hours with 150 lumens. To switch between modes simply press the silicone button, easy enough to use even with gloves.

If you travel a long way home, a longer ignition time is needed, but Lezyne has thought of this too. The "Infinite Light" feature is present on many of their high-end lamps and essentially allows you to replace the batteries without the use of tools, thanks to the screw cap. Lithium-ion batteries are compact, about the size of a lighter. The light beam has a warm tone that does not disturb the eye compared to other white lights.

The handlebar mount is solid but not overly bulky, with minimal parts that can break or rust and a sturdy plastic shape. The fixing to the handlebar is ensured by an ergonomic thumbscrew and there are two quality shims based on the diameter of the handlebar. The light stand has a 15-degree rotation, which offers useful lateral adjustment.
