Technologies

Optimized contact surface
The contact area of the pedals is of substantial importance. It is part of the brand identity and is the manufacturer's trademark.
The contact patch of the new Keo 2 Max retains the robust lines that made it famous. Its width has been increased up to 60mm to offer a wider platform and better stability when pedaling. This creates a superior feeling and unattainable comfort, unavailable in other pedals.
Furthermore, power transmission has been optimized thanks to the usable surface area increased up to 500 mm² (+25% more). The shape of the stainless steel plate has been revised to better match the cleat and to keep the contact area - and consequently the performance - constant regardless of the position of the feet (also linked to the degrees of freedom of the cleat used).
By increasing the contact surface of the pedals without adding weight, the "Power to Weight" index (power/weight ratio) has been improved, making this product even better and allowing you to express yourself at your best.

Improved pin profile
The axle profile of the new Keo 2 Max has also been optimized. Built around an Oversized Chromoly+ axis, it features a pin with an internal ball bearing and a needle bearing placed under the contact surface to better manage the load and distribute it in the optimal way.
A new component has been added between these two bearings. The washer, previously used to hold the needle bearing in place, has been replaced with a tapered spacer. This technical solution reduces friction, increases fluidity and consequently allows the geometric tolerances of the pedal body and the relative play to be limited. The combination of all these improvements has been designed to guarantee uncompromising reliability.
